Terra Nova Schoolyard Society featured on City Farmer website

Richmond's Ian Lai was featured on a recent addition to City Farmer's website at www.cityfarmer.info

Children who participate in the project get to plant wheat, spelt and other grains, tend the plants through the summer, and then harvest in the fall. After threshing the grains, they are now able to make their own loaves of bread.

  1. Ian Lai, was a recent speaker at the January meeting of the Richmond Garden Club. I thouroughly enjoyed his presentation, and it really inspired me. The connection and lessons the kids made/learned with the process of growing their own food was remarkable. I have 2 kids and I am currently turning about 1/3 of the backyard of our townhouse into a vegetable garden this year, and I hope to instill in my kids some of the pleasures and the connections Ian is teaching todays youth. Thanks Ian. Keep up the wonderful work your doing.
